GOREY J2s WIN IN KILKENNY

Gorey J2’s travelled to Kilkenny and ran out winners in a keenly contested match on Saturday last.

Gorey had to work hard for their victory as the home team fought right up to the final whistle.

The first half was a fractious affair with Gorey shading the penalty count with 3 Cian Hadden penalties to 2 for Kilkenny the only scores.

The second half saw Gorey edge the territory and the exchanges with a Lloyd Stephens try edging the visitors into a two score lead at 14 - 6.

Kilkenny never gave up but Gorey kept up the pressure and when Jack Willoughby crossed for a fine individual try in the closing minutes to stretch Gorey’s lead to 19 - 6 it was probably a true reflection of events.

Gorey had some good performances with Jack Willoughby, Colm O’Keefe and Lloyd Stephens showing well.

The J2s have no game next weekend due to the first round of the Provincial Towns Cup taking place.
