Gorey’s J2 caught at the death.

A game that saw Gorey lead to the final few minutes with Ashbourne kicking a penalty to edge out the visitors on an 8 7 scoreline.

As so often J2 games prove to be very entertaining and this game was no different as both sides tried to run the ball at every opportunity. Playing with the wind Gorey we’re the first to score when Cillian Tomkins finished off out wide for Ryan Gibney to add the conversion. Both teams tried hard but defences were proving hard to breakdown 

7 0 was how it remained well into the second when sustained pressure finally saw Ashbourne cross for a try. They failed to add the conversion.

A late Ashbourne penalty saw Gorey finally relinquish the lead with Ashbourne holding on for the win. 

Colin French Eoin Austin and Gavin McGonigle tried hard in the pack with George Slattery Ryan Gibney and Brian O Leary the pick of the backs.
