Leinster Under 10s Blitz (Kettle Cup)

The Leinster Under 10s Blitz (Kettle Cup)

The Leinster under 10 Blitz (Kettle Cup) was held in Enniscorthy Rugby Club on Saturday 20th April.

The teams were Enniscorthy, Navan, Coolmine, Mullingar, New Ross, De La Salle Palmerstown, Gorey, Wicklow, Tullamore, Tullow and North Kildare. There were over 200 kids in the competition with some clubs having two teams and a total of 16 teams taking part.

At this level in Leinster rugby it's not all about winning, its the participation that counts so all kids get a game keeping it enjoyable for all.

Boys and Girls at this level are now getting used to the structure of a team and in doing so making a lot more use of the space around them, "the ball moves faster than the man" and the quality of  passing the ball from all teams was excellent with good use of all players along the line through out the games.

The teams that took part on Saturday displayed  some excellent rucks, mauls which eventually lead to the try's. Teams were very tactical trying to suck in the opponents and then create the space for a good run.

It was a well run event with all teams giving it their best, the quality of the rugby was outstanding.

Dave Ballesty from Wicklow RFC was the event co-ordinator with Larry Mackey from Enniscorthy RFC the event manager.

Well done to everyone who took part!
