Gorey Seniors now only a few weeks away from life in Leinster 1A   13/08/2015

We are now only few weeks away from the start of the new rugby season which sees Gorey in the top tier of Leinster Junior rugby for the first time.

Only four years ago Gorey were relegated to Division 2A. Under the leadership of Phil Horan, as Head Coach, structures were put in place with player retention at the core and, over the last four seasons, the club has reaped the reward as it has gone from strength to strength.

Beginning with their first ever Leinster League title, as Champions of Division 2B, they then followed that up 2 years later finishing as Division 2A Champions & also Plate winners. This was then followed last season by promotion to the top flight of Leinster Junior Rugby.

What does this means for the Club, Players & Supporters? A change to Saturday rugby - some of these being evening matches. Some serious names in Leinster Junior rugby including Suttonians, Monkstown, Ashbourne plus local rivals Enniscorthy & Kilkenny which means top class rugby & great entertainment for supporters. A massive challenge for the players however the last 4 seasons has been full of these, & they overcame them, but they will need a continuation of the brilliant support that has been with them on their journey over the last 4 years.

Their first Leinster League fixture is on 26/9/15 away to Ashbourne. Gorey's first Leinster League 1A home tie is on Sat 3/10/15 with De La Salle Palmerston the visitors. Club Capt JP Redmond and all the J1s & J2s would love to have Clonattin packed for their home games. Please check in with Gorey RFC via Facebook, Twitter & the Club website for updates re fixtures, venues & kick off times
