GOREY J2S DRAW AWAY TO KILKENNY   28/02/2016

Gorey J2's were also in Kilkenny on Saturday and in a close battle shared the spoils on a score of 13 each. This was an entertaining game as both sides tried to run the ball. Gorey had the better of the opening exchanges but it was Kilkenny who struck first when they went over in the corner. The response from Gorey was immediate, with Tom Tomkins involved in a number of phases, as the Gorey pack piled on the pressure for Eddie Horan to race through a gap in the Kilkenny defence and touch down under the posts to leave the teams tied at 7 all. Further Gorey pressure saw them extend their lead to 10 - 7 when Clinton Furney landed a penalty. But Kilkenny were not long in arrears as they in turn slotted a penalty to leave the teams level at halftime.

The second half saw both teams huff and puff with defences on top. Gorey probably had the better chances but couldn't find the where with all to win. A penalty each was the sum total for the second half and a score of 13 each was the fair result on the day. Gorey had some good performances with Colin French, Conor Kinsella, Tom Tomkins and man of the match Eddie Horan the pick of the forwards. Killian Breen and Conor Hatton tried hard in the backs. Next week sees Gorey play Clondalkin in Clonattin kick off 1pm.
