Gorey Under 17s

Tuesday November 1st 20122

Gorey 30 Enniscorthy 11

Gorey u17's faced Enniscorthy on Tuesday evening under lights at Clonlattin, the first of many encounters these teams will have this coming season. Gorey having had a mixed start to their season where slow to start and when Enniscorthy scored a penalty after only a couple of minutes play, the Gorey players seemed to kick into life.

When a lineout was won after a kick to touch , Conor Kinsella made a fine break from the back of the lineout and went over the line to put Gorey on the score sheet .Gorey's second try came from a break by James Nolan from near halfway, he sliced through the defence to go over the line and also converted his try. This was followed up by a penalty which was awarded to Gorey.

Just before half time Enniscorthy were awarded a penalty in front of the posts for offside and left the score 15pts to 6pts at half time.

The game at the restart had the potential to go either way as Enniscorthy battled hard to get a foothold on the game. However after a great rolling maul by Gorey James Nolan broke free to score his second try of the evening.

Gorey's scrums were working very well on the night and after a series of pick and go James Mulligan went over to score Gorey's fourth try. A testament to Enniscorthy character is they never gave up and ran in a try of their own with a great break from their winger midway through the second half. Gorey's final try came when JJ .Earle spotted a gap off a ruck close to their line and ran over to score Gorey's fifth and final try to leave the score 30pts to 11pts.

These two teams have to face each other once again this Sunday in Enniscorthy in the first round of the Lenister League.
