Sons replicate fathers' heroics

It was a case of history repeating itself recently when Gorey Rugby Club won the Under 13s South East Cup.

Little did players Eoin Molloy and Fionn O'loughlin know, that when they were out helping their team win the game, they were doing exactly what their fathers had done some thirty years before.

John O'loughlin, and Tony Molloy were on the 1982 Gorey Rugby Club Under 13s team that also won the South East Cup. However, in 1982, Gorey beat Kilkenny to take the title, while the 2012 team beat New Ross for the honours.

"It was a nice turn of events", said John O'Loughlin. "The first time when Gorey won it, was when we won it, and I'm not sure if Gorey has won it since, until now."

Both John and Tony were at the match, but didn't realise the significance of the win, when the 1982 plaque was located some time later.
