GOREY UNDER 13s WIN THE POPPLEWELL CUP FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWENTY YEARS.

Gorey RFC hosted the U13 Popplewell Cup in Clonattin on Saturday 7th April.

In glorious sunshine, the first game for Gorey was against Enniscorthy. It
was a good game with Gorey playing well and they took the 3 points.

Gorey's second game was against a very big and strong Carlow team. This was
a much tougher affair and with both sides evenly matched it ended in a draw.

Next up were Gorey's old rivals New Ross who had come straight from a very hard game against Waterpark. You could see the tired legs and this was an advantage Gorey took with both hands and they came away again with the 3 points.

The final game was a Leinster/Munster meeting with Gorey playing Waterpark of Waterford. Both teams were on equal points and it was winner take all.
Waterpark were for up for the challenge but it was Gorey who looked like they wanted the cup more. They shut down the Waterpark back line and had most of the possession. Gorey secured the 3 points and made history by being the first Gorey team in 20 years to win the Popplewell Cup.

All the panel were involved on the day and gave 110%, leaving nothing on the field.
