J2s Off To A Flying Start
06 Oct '14
With
no game last week the Gorey J2 's got their season off to a flyer with a
32 - 5 win over a game Tullow team in Clonattin. Like their first
counterparts the J2's like to move the ball and it was not long for the
opening to appear for the evergreen Aidan O Brien to cross the whitewash
for the opening try, which he converted. Typical of Tullow they came
right back and some fantastic forward
play saw them opening their account which they did not convert. Killian
Breen was next on the score sheet when was in support of Garry Rynhart
to finish off a fine try. Clinton Furney had his kicking boots on and
took the Gorey score to 18 - 5 as they reached the break.
Gorey started the second half as the ended the first with Fergal Bolger
intercepting a Tullow attack to go in under the posts. Gorey kept up the
pressure with Niall Cousins, rounding off a good Gorey performance,
with their fourth try for Clinton Furney to convert to take the score to
32 - 5. Best for Gorey were Fergal Bolger, Niall Cousins and Ciaran
Hennessy in the pack with Eoin Walshe, Clinton Furney and Rob Harrington
the pick of the backs.
