Dundalk secure narrowest  of victories over Gorey 

After a hard earned win against Kilkenny the previous week Gorey travelled to Dundalk and will be very disappointed to not have come away with at least a share of the points and possibly the win. 

It was the home team that started the brighter and Ultan Murphy put them on the scoreboard when Gorey were penalised for a high tackle. 

Gorey responded immediately and a Darragh O Leary turnover gave Gorey a shot at goal, Mikey Duke was just wide. 

Gorey were shading the territory and should have opened their account on at least two occasions,  but could not secure the final pass to score. Dundalk though were edging the scrums and a number of penalties got them back in the Gorey half. Ultan Murphy landed another penalty when Gorey were adjudged to be offside. 

The next 10 minutes was all Gorey, and they finally got on the scoreboard when Dylan Gregan finished off a concerted attack with a number of power phases taking them to the home line. 

Another Murphy penalty left the score at 9 5 at the break. 

Almost immediately from the kick off Murphy stretched the Dundalk lead to 12 5. 

Gorey had to dig deep as they struggled in the scrums to get any momentum. But they were just about shading the territory. Dundalk received a yellow card during this spell and Gorey kept on the pressure with a number of power plays taking them to the Dundalk line for Killian Breen to power over to leave two points between the teams. 

The final 10 minutes saw  both teams creating  chances to score, but 12 10 was how it finished. 

Killian Breen Stephen Gardiner and Jordan Ahearn were the pick of the forwards with Fionn O Loughlin John Milne and Jack Willoughby showing well in the backs 

Gorey have no game next weekend with Monkstown in Clonattin the following weekend.
