On behalf of the Executive Committee, I extend a warm welcome to everybody involved in Gorey RFC and I wish players, coaches and volunteers the best for the coming season 2020/21.

COVID 19 has created a new context for all that we do. As a Club, we assure all players, families and supporters that we will take all necessary measures to adhere to Government and IRFU Guidelines to manage and contain the spread of the virus. Training and matches will proceed where safe to do so, facilities will be open as permitted and we will get the best that we can from this challenging year.

As always, the financial support of our sponsors and advertisers allows us to plan with confidence year on year and your support is very much appreciated. In particular, the support of our Senior Sponsors, Pettitt's SuperValu, Youth Rugby Sponsors, Stafford’s Bakery, Senior Women Sponsors Weatherglaze and Mini Rugby Sponsors, Pirates Cove, is essential. We have many more sponsors for dugouts, pitch signs, score board and post pads - we thank you all for your essential support. Our recently launched 50/50 Supporters Package is a new and exciting way for a business to support the club and be guaranteed access to all home 6 Nations games.

This year, we will be fielding 20 teams in Gorey RFC, from mini to youths, boys and girls and senior men and women. This is a huge undertaking and I wish our coordinators and coaches/managers all the best. Your work behind the scenes is critical not just to the results of games but also the wellbeing and development of all of our players.

We will also continue to develop our facilities by adding new dressing rooms and facilities to enhance our club for both men and women, boys and girls. We recognise the growth of women’s rugby nationally and look forward to welcoming more and more women into the club as players, managers and coaches.

In order to achieve these developments we have had many fundraisers down the years and this year will be no different. These fundraisers raise vital monies for the club to grow and develop and it's vital that all our members actively support these events.

I would like to wish our senior club captain Darragh O’Leary every success as the men’s team embark on another season in a very competitive Division 1A of the Leinster League. I also wish our senior women’s captain Ciara Tomkins the very best in their pursuit of success in Division 2 of the Leinster league.

Gorey RFC has developed into a vibrant, successful and ambitious club over the last 50 years because of you our members - players, coaches, committee members, co-ordinators and volunteers. We cannot achieve it without your passion, enthusiasm and help.

As we look forward to the next phase of Gorey RFC’s success, both on and off the pitch, we will continue to manage and develop your club to make it the best it can be.

Many Thanks
