TOWNS CUP!
21/03/2022
Big home game for Gorey RFC's J1s this weekend when we welcome Dundalk RFC to Clonattin on Sunday afternoon for a Provincial Town's Cup game.
The Provincial Towns Cup was established in 1888 and is one of the oldest trophies in existence in Irish rugby union.
The trophy itself was purchased in 1892 for £25 from Wests in Dublin and bears the title of Leinster Junior Challenge Cup.
In 1925, the Leinster branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union reorganised its junior competitions. The Leinster Junior Challenge Cup became the Provincial Towns Cup. This was now a knock-out competition for junior clubs from outside Dublin.
This competition never fails to deliver exhilarating rugby and this weekend's game is certain to be no different.
Please come down and support the boys.
As usual, we'll have the bar open, the barbecue burning and the coffee dock brewing.
KICK-OFF SUNDAY 27th AT 3PM
