J2'S TO STRONG FOR CARLOW   11/11/2013

Gorey J2's continue their unbeaten run with another win against a tough strong Carlow side in Clonnattin on Sunday last. This win leaves them on top of the seconds 2A Leinster League with 27pts ,5pts ahead of the chasing field and puts Carlow back into fourth place.  This game was a hard fought battle between two sides with tough seasoned players mixed with youth.

 

Carlow were first on the scoreboard when they got 3pts from a penalty for hands on the ground in the ruck inside Gorey's 22. Soon after this Gorey were awarded a penalty of their own for a similar offence and Clinton Furney leveled the scores. Gorey followed this with a fine move, when the ball was picked from the back of the scrum and following a fine run Robert Harrington scored in the corner with Clinton producing a fine kick to bring it to 10pts to 3pts.

 

Gorey had to weather some pressure from Carlow and  soon gave away a try in the corner. With half time approaching Gorey led 13pts to 8pts  after been aware a penalty of their own and added a fine try from Ciaran Hennessy which was converted to go into the break 20pts to 8pts.

 

The restart saw Carlow return with an extra edge to their game and there were tough exchanges at the breakdown. Four tries in all were scored in this half, two by each side and with Clinton converting his and Carlow only getting one, left the score 34pts to 20pts at full time. This leaves Gorey still unbeaten and next Sunday travel to Clane K.O. 1 o''clock
