J2 ONE STEP CLOSER TO TITLE   20/01/2014

                       Gorey 39  Railway Union 6

Gorey J2's went into this game 7pts clear of their opposition on the evening in second place on 39pts and Carlow behind them on 38pts and finished the evening 12pts clear of the rest with two matches left and the title is their's to loose. They kept up their unbeaten record by disposing of a spirited Railway Union side in clinical fashion.  It was a sluggish start from Gorey who took a while to get into their usual stride but when they found their feet they played some fine rugby. With the opening try by Sean Byrne followed by a penalty from Clinton Furney and rounded off with a Jordan Ahern try and the only response from Railway was a penalty, Gorey went into the halftime break 13pts to 3pts up.  In the second half they really turn on the screws and after Railway got a penalty to add to their score Gorey ran in tries from Philip Furney, John Condren, Ciaran Hennessy and Paul Wafer and three conversion from Clinton Furney and the game finished Gorey 39pts Railway Union 6pts. The J2's have no game next week but will be preparing for their cup match in two weeks' time against Kilkenny away.
