Gorey J2 & J3 Match Reports   29/11/2015

Hail sleet and almost snow greeted Gorey's J2 in Clondalkin last Saturday in what was weather more accustomed to Siberia. The game started with Gorey opting to play with the wind and were soon in their stride when Clinton Furney converted a penalty. Gorey were soon on the attack again and could of added further points but for some over zealous play allowed the opportunities to pass. Clondalkin levelled on the twentieth minute and pressed hard to add to their score. But poor handling saw a knock on hacked up the field for the chasing Shane O Leary to touch down, Clinton Furney converted.

Half time saw the home turn with the wind at their back. Some astute kicking saw them deep in the Gorey half. After sustained pressure they manage to cross for a try and the conversion drew the sides level. Gorey worked hard to get into the home team's half but were struggling to establish any foothold. This saw Clon soaking up the pressure but able to pin Gorey back with some excellent kicking. Two further penalties saw Clondalkin finish the stronger to secure the points for the home team. Next week sees Gorey at home to Ashbourne with the kick off at 1pm in Clonattin.

On Friday night Gorey J 3's finally managed to travel to Dublin to take on Bective Rangers. All was going well with fifteen minutes to go, when the wheels came off the wagon, for Bective to run in a number of tries in quick succession. Coach Ivan Kelly was satisfied with the overall performance and is hoping for bigger numbers in training over the coming weeks.
