Gorey 10 Navan 0

Gorey beat Navan 10-0 to secure a semi-final place in the Under-13 Leinster Premier League. It was a keenly-contested game which the referee allowed to flow (something both teams said that the international ref's could learn from), and this led to a very fast game.

There was nothing to separate the teams until in the 21st minute when Shane Stokes peeled off the back off the scrum and passed the ball to Lloyd Stephens who popped it off to Charlie Mcguckin.
Charlie used all his strength to burst over the line to score the try.

The second-half was as keenly-fought as the first, with Gorey putting in heroic tackles, in particular hooker, Andy Kinsella, who put in a monster tackle on the biggest Navan player to prevent a sure five-pointer.
Gorey were awarded a penalty 24 metres out and seven metres to the right of the Navan posts. Jack O'mahoney's kick clipped the post.

Gorey picked up the ricocheted ball and attacked the Navan line.

In the pursuing ruck Navan turned over the ball but in an effort to clear their lines they took a kick from behind the post but again the ball hit the woodwork.
Lloyd Stephens, using his height advantage, plucked the ball from the air and grounded it for another five points.

Navan came back at Gorey with everything they had but Gorey kept to the basics and held out until the final whistle, preventing Navan from getting a point.
Gorey were made very welcome by this A.I.L. Senior club which has a fantastic new clubhouse, super changing rooms and four full-size pitches.
