GOREY U13s v NAAS  -  10th March 2011

GOREY 16   NAAS 5

Gorey played Naas in Clonattin on Saturday in their second outing of the Leinster premier league. Gorey started with gusto and capitalised with an early try by Shane Stokes. In a match where Gorey held most of the ball and territory it took some time for Joseph Naughton to break away with some fine footwork to get past three Naas players to score a try.

In strong winds it was not a day for kicking but saying that Jack O Mahoney slotted two penalty kicks, one in each half.

Naas started the second half with a new determination but Gorey showed a maturity of play and kept the ball in hand and penalties to a minimum. Naas kept the pressure on and with a great display of counter rucking scored a try in the last six minutes of the game. Gorey came back at Naas and were unfortunate for Sean Barton not to score in the last play of the game.

Captain Charlie McGuckin was a power house around the field and lead by example, second row Cameron Reynolds, Prop Dillon Slater and second centre Fionn O'Loughlin gave strong performances and should be very proud.
